Confidential Services

We currently provide free confidential services to victims of rape, sexual assault (and childhood) sexual abuse, sexual harassment and domestic violence, including elder abuse. Victims' families and friends are also served. These services are provided 7 days a week, 24 hours per day, via a 24-hour hotline, crisis intervention, systems advocacy, accompaniment, counseling, referral and support. Referrals can be made to therapists, advocates and support groups free of charge. Our Mission Statement

The mission of Rape & Abuse Crisis Service of the Finger Lakes inc. is to provide direct services to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence in Seneca, Ontario, and Yates Counties and to raise awareness about sexual and domestic violence through community education programs.

Rape & Abuse Crisis Service staff and volunteers will provide free, confidential, non-judgmental, empathetic support to all clients, 24 hours a day. Survivors and co-survivors will be provided with accurate information, medical and legal advocacy, counseling and crisis intervention in order to facilitate the healing process.

Our Statement

We work to support self-empowerment and the return of control to victim survivors, enabling them to make their own decisions. Rape & Abuse Crisis Service will be available to explain and advocate for sexual assault and domestic violence survivors throughout any criminal justice and medical procedures. The decision to report sexual assault, press charges, or seek medical treatment shall rest entirely with the survivor and her/his individual decision shall be respected.

The goals of the community education programs are: to raise awareness about sexual and domestic violence and the services available; to counteract the stigma associated with sexual assault and domestic violence; to encourage survivors to seek help and support; to prevent future assaults; and to train professionals to identify and respond appropriately to sexual assault and domestic violence.

All services are provided regardless of age, gender, race, sexual orientation, income level, disability, or length of time since the assault. In addition, Rape & Abuse Crisis Service of the Finger Lakes, Inc. will encourage active participation of adult volunteers from a diverse range of socioeconomic, racial, ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, and age groups. Volunteers will be sought in all geographic areas of the counties.
